I received a call from my mother that my father is in the hospital with a massive infection in is intestine. What started out as a case of diverticulitis has spread. They estimate that he will need to be in the hospital for two days needing antibiotics. After one night in the hospital he isn't feeling much better.
The CT scan also revealed a spot on his liver. We won't know more about that until the infection is gone. Apparently the infection is just too overwhelming to investigate the spot.
I live five hours away and I just feel so helpless. Part of me wants to hop in the car and go home, but my whole family has been telling me to hold on until they know more.
It's killing me not to be there. I'm having a hard time dealing with knowing that my Dad isn't superhuman after all.
If you could, please spare some prayers for my father, John. He's one of most amazing men I know and I need him to be okay.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. That is so scary. Diverticulitis runs in our family (my uncle recently had surgery because his was so bad), so I understand how painful it must be for him. :( My thoughts are with both of you, and your entire family.
